NPO Semenovodstvo Kubani is the first agro-industrial company in Russia to organise seed production in full compliance with international standards, using a complete production cycle — from breeding to commercial sale.

From 2008 to 2024, Progress Agro’s plant breeders created 46 proprietary Ladozhsky maize hybrids, as well as a hybrid sunflower variety and a large-seeded sunflower variety that were put into production. The company’s plant breeding facilities occupy 40 hectares, and since 2020, a molecular laboratory has been operating on site.

In 2018, the capacity of the Ladozhsky Maize Seed Calibration Plant was increased from 5,000 to 10,000 tonnes per year, enabling the company to expand its range of hybrid maize varieties.

High-quality breeding material is essential for successful plant breeding. Progress Agro’s researchers have an extensive collection of maize lines, which is expanded every year using inbred-line development and haploid production techniques. Thanks to diligent breeding, Ladozhsky hybrid maize varieties have a yield potential of 11–14 tonnes of grain per hectare. These hybrid seeds are supplied to all maize-producing regions of Russia, from the South to the Russian Far East, as well as Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

In 2024, more than 350,000 hectares were sown with Ladozhsky hybrid maize varieties.
