Innovations and TRIZ

To solve the production problems faced by agricultural and processing enterprises, Progress Agro has established a TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) department. The department identifies and defines production challenges and develops solutions to address them.

The TRIZ department’s specialists work to identify optimal solutions, resolving contradictions that arise when improving one parameter negatively affects another important parameter. Relying on the laws of technical system development, the department's employees identify areas that increase production efficiency. One of the important areas of the department's work is monitoring scientific developments in Russia and internationally, testing them, and, if they are viable, gradually introducing them into production. Department specialists train other Progress Agro employees in TRIZ methods.

PROPRIETARY CROP BREEDING PROGRAMME

In 2006, we were the first in Russia to organise seed production in accordance with the best international standards – with a closed technological cycle, from breeding to commercial sale.

In 2008, the company hired Mikhail Chumak, one of Russia’s leading maize breeders and the developer of more than 70 maize hybrids and the haploid explosion method. He headed the breeding laboratory at the P.P. Lukyanenko Krasnodar Research Institute of Agriculture. This made it possible to accelerate the development of new maize lines threefold.

Progress Agro's breeders have created more than 46 proprietary high-yielding Ladozhsky maize hybrids, which demonstrate competitive performance compared with leading international maize hybrids.

ACCELERATED REPRODUCTION OF HIGH-PRODUCTIVITY DAIRY CATTLE

The implementation of a breeding programme for the accelerated reproduction of highly productive Holstein cows began in 2014 by Rassvet JSC, part of the Progress Agro Group of Companies.

The technology used in the programme involves the transplantation of embryos from Holstein cows to lower-productivity animals.

Progress Agro was the first company in Krasnodar Krai to start using such technologies. For the first time in Russia, the transplantation of embryos from Holstein cows, considered the most productive in the world (up to 12 tonnes of milk per year), was launched.

The project makes it possible to quickly replace low-productive cows with high-productive Holstein animals and increase the profitability of the company's dairy farming.

DIGITALISATION AND ROBOTICS IN CROP PRODUCTION

Since 2017, Progress Agro's agronomists have been using satellite monitoring of fields. The technology allows them to analyse the condition of cultivated crops by light and colour spectrum. Drone technologies are used for agricultural monitoring and targeted field treatment against pests and weeds.

Since 2019, the company has been using a technology on its fields for the differential application of mineral fertilisers based on satellite data.

Progress Agro has implemented an Automated Crop Management System (ACMS). Crop growers use this system to automate the planning and control of agricultural crop cultivation. ACMS simplifies interaction processes and accelerates decision-making and implementation at all management levels.

Progress Agro is implementing Agropilot, a parallel-driving and automatic-piloting system for agricultural machinery. Machine operators in the cabin can pay more attention to the settings and adjustments of the equipment, reducing losses during movement. Overall, Agropilot significantly improves the speed and quality of work carried out both during harvesting and sowing.
