Voskhod Stud Farm has bred, raised and sold English Thoroughbred horses for more than a century. It is one of Southern Russia’s oldest stud farms, with horse-breeding traditions dating back to 1914. Every year, the stud farm invests tens of millions of rubles in breeding work. Voskhod ranks among Russia’s top three stud farms by number of victories and trophies.

  • The stud farm covers 7,478 hectares, including 6,549 ha of arable land.
  • The stud herd totals up to 140 horses. The Voskhod broodmare herd, numbering 60 horses, is considered one of the best in Russia.
  • Voskhod horses have won the All-Russian Grand Prize (Derby) 43 times and more than 200 international prizes. The stud farm is home to a monument to Anilin, the famous stallion regarded as one of the greatest racehorses in Soviet history and a three-time winner of the prestigious Preis von Europa.
  • In 2016, the Krasnodar Hippodrome established a special prize named after V.I. Krasnobrizh, a 2,000-metre race for three-year-old English Thoroughbreds.

The Voskhod Stud Farm, part of the Progress Agro Group, was founded in 1920 on the estate of horse breeder Prokopiy Nikolenko, who had been raising horses since 1914.

The stud farm is one of Russia’s leading centres for breeding and raising English Thoroughbreds. On the recommendation of Marshal of the Soviet Union Semyon Budyonny, the farm was called the “Kuban-Black Sea Stud Farm” until 1924, after which it received its current name, “Voskhod.”

The specialists of the stud farm preserve and develop the traditions of Russian horse breeding. The farm’s museum houses hundreds of prestigious awards, rare cups, and interesting exhibits that reflect the history of horse breeding in Southern Russia since the early 19th century.

Voskhod carries out a long-term, carefully planned breeding programme. Today, among the young breeding stock are descendants of the famous champion stallions Anilin, Akbash, and Satellite, whose names are known throughout the equestrian world. A prominent star of the farm in recent years is the stallion Vistmus, who won the “Fragrant” Cup at the Moscow Hippodrome in September 2020.

In 2022, the stallion Yuvelir won the Silver Rain Prize at the Moscow Hippodrome. In 2024, the same stallion Yuvelir won the “Kuban Bread Growers” prize at the Krasnodar Hippodrome. The Voskhod Stud Farm is one of the landmark names in Russian Thoroughbred horse breeding.
